The New Zealand Association of Hospital Scientific Officers was incorporated in 1985 and is the professional association for Specialist Medical Scientists employed as Scientific Officers by District Health Boards associated with the medical schools and universities in New Zealand.
Hospital Scientific Officers comprise of a very small group of highly qualified Specialist Medical Scientists and all have postgraduate science or engineering degrees with the majority having Ph.Ds.
Our group provides highly specialised scientific and medical resources to other health practitioners and their patients. We have a strong and demonstrable history of providing in medicine and improving the patient journey, consistent with the aims of tertiary health providers.
Furthermore we attract grant funds and equipment, as well research contracts and other business opportunities. This is a direct product of our national and international reputation. This reputation has been built over the last few decades and is based on quality, peer reviewed scientific and medical publications.
